subscribing

Folks,

Thanks to student Todd Burd, I may now have the necessary information to get you as a subscriber to our blog. Remember, as a subscriber, you will receive notification, I think in your google email account, that a new posting has occurred on our blog. This will allow you to not have to go back to the blog every week but rather know when something new is there for you to investigate. Let's hope this works. If it is working for you, would you email me so I know it is and that the instructions I am about to give you are correct? Here is how I think you can subscribe.

  1. Go to our url argosyschaumburgcounselingdept.blogspot.edu
  2. Go to Google Reader
  3. click on subscription (on the left)
  4. past our blog url into the google reader subscription area
  5. this should then show up on your subscription list at the bottom

I believe you are then done. Again, please email me with results. I will continue to play with this until it is working.

The counseling department wants you!

Pretty cool huh? Go figure. The department chair figured out how to add a picture. Now if the chair could just get your help.
A student suggested to me some weeks ago that it would be nice if students could "subscribe" to the blog. I think what is meant by "subscribe" is that you can be added to the blog and every time a new message is put on the blog, you receive notification. Wow, didn't know you could do that. It's a great idea though. The counseling office needs you to view the blog so that you can be aware of news and updates. Wouldn't it be great if somehow you could be notified evertime something was added?
So, here is the rub. I don't know how to do this. I have tried. I bet however that one of our brilliant counseling students does know how to do this. So, hey, how about some help? If you have knowledge of how to make this happen, I would appreciate if you would share it with me. I am sure the counseling students would appreciate it as well. Please contact me by email if you can help with this project.
Thanks

News from CACREP

We have just received news from CACREP that the MACC programs accreditation has been extended until March 2015. Just so you are not confused. We have been accredited since 2007. CACREP only makes two decisions regarding accreditation. You are either accredited or not accredited. However, many universities, like ours, needed to satisfy some standards (in our case two) to bring us into full compliance. We were given until March of 2011 to do this. The letter we have now received from CACREP, which came in January, says we meet all the standards and so our accreditation continues. Accreditation is for an 8 year period, so in our case, 2007-2015. In the coming months, and certainly by next academic year, the Counseling Department will begin working on the required self-study to CACREP that will be due in 2014. With the self-study and a visit from the CACREP visiting team in 2014, we hope to move the counseling program to re-accreditation for the next 8-year period of 2015-2023. Accreditation is not a one time thing but an ongoing process. The counseling department is constantly modifying itself to meet new standards and to better prepare counselors for the future.
