Just a few reminders for the end of 2014!

Hello Counseling Students!

I just want to remind you of a few things before you end the semester and leave for the holidays:

Wednesday 12/17/14-Last day of Fall 2014 semester
Saturday 12/20/14-CPCE @ 9:00AM (please arrive 30 minutes early)
Thursday 1/15/15-Classes begin for Spring 2015
Saturday 1/17/15-Clearbrook and APA writing presentation from 12-3PM

Mark your calendars for these important dates and have a great holiday break.  See you next year!

MA Comprehensive Exam December 20th!!!

Counseling Students taking the 12/20/14 COMPS exam:

The final cost will be a $50 money order made out to CPCE....please bring this to the exam.  We will see you bright and early at 8:30AM on Saturday 12/20!  Feel free to contact Dr. Jackson with any further questions ldjackson@argosy.edu.

M.A. Counseling Comprehension Examination Registration Fall 2014

Hello Counseling Students!

The Counseling Comprehension Examination will be offered December 20, 2014 at 9:00 AM in Room 815.  Forms must be completed and returned to Dr. Jackson's mailbox in the 8th floor office by 4:00 PM on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2014.  Confirmation of the receipt of this registration will be sent to you by email.  Please watch for this email.  If you do not receive this confirmation by MONDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 2014 contact Dr. Jackson at ldjackson@argosy.edu immediately. 

Please bring to the exam a money order for $50 made out to:  CPCE.  If there is a change in the fee, you will be contacted before the exam date.

Internship Meeting Mandatory

Attention All Students Planning to Begin Practicum and Internship in the Fall of 2015

 Now that we have completed our CACREP site visit I wanted to let you know that there will be two opportunities to participate in a mandatory meeting for students planning to enter Practicum and Internship in the Fall of 2015.  You MUST attend one of the two meetings that are offered.  The first meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 21 from 3-5 pm.  If you are unable to attend the October 21^st meeting there will be a second opportunity to attend the same meeting on Saturday, October 25 from 10 am-12 noon.   There are no classes being offered on that Saturday so the time will not conflict with any previously scheduled events.  Please RSVP to Dr Robinson at jmrobinson@argosy.edu no later than Monday, October 20, 2014 at 5pm to indicate which meeting you will be attending.  If YOU DO NOT ATTEND ONE OF THESE MEETINGS YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO BEGIN THE CLINICAL TRAINING EXPERIENCE BEFORE FALL 2016.  Please do not hesitate to contact Dr Robinson with any questions.

Fall Semester Important Dates

Hello All,

Some important dates to keep track of this Fall:

NCACES Conference is in St. Louis this year 10/16-10/17
NCE Exam is on 10/18, Final applications have already been turned in. Next date will be next year.
AUS Graduation is on 11/9
ICA Conference is in Schaumburg this year, 11/13-11/15
COMPS will occur on 12/20, you will receive an email letting you know when to get your application, and keep an eye out on our blog for more information.

Volunteer at the 2014 ICA Conference!!

 

Visit the ICA website (ilcounseling.org) beginning early July to sign up as a volunteer for this year's conference. The conference will take place at the Schaumburg Marriot, November 13-15. This year's theme is "Reinventing Community," and Argosy-Schaumburg would love to have a great representation of its community at the conference!

Student volunteers are eligible to attend free workshops during the conference!

POSITION: Graduate Assistant

PURPOSE: The FWS will provide administrative support to the Counseling department head and other staff members of the department.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Attending department meetings
Completing department meeting agenda and minutes, including distribution
Helping the chair with scheduling, course sequencing, and program planning
Assisting full and adjunct faculty with various clerical activities in preparation for class
Library research to aid faculty in preparation for class and research projects
Assist the Director of Clinical Training in maintaining student clinical files
Assist the Director of Clinical Training in recording student clinical hour logs into official spreadsheet
Assist the Director of Clinical Training in responding to student questions regarding clinical training concerns
Background check and drug screen required.
This position will be evaluated on an annual basis.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Applicant must be eligible for Federal Work Study program.

TOTAL HOURS REQUIRED PER WEEK: Maximum of 20

WORK HOURS: To be arranged

WAGE: $11/hour

Dear Counseling Students,
The next comprehensive exam will take place on Saturday, May 3 at the Argosy-Schaumburg campus. Registration materials for the exam will be available in the 8th floor office beginning Tuesday, March 11. All completed registration materials must be submitted to Dr. Jackson (or his mailbox) no later than 4:00 PM on Wednesday, April 2. Please contact your faculty advisor or Dr. Jackson (ldjackson@argosy.edu) if you have any questions or concerns regarding your eligibility to register for the exam at this time.

In order to fulfill the requirements needed to sign this room out please read our “Guidelines for Use of the Counseling Lab”, this sheet is located at the Library desk. Please reserve the rooms in advance by using one of the links below. Be aware that if you have not signed a "Guidelines" sheet and returned it to the counseling mailbox you may be asked to leave.
