Here is the scoop on the new DSM being on NCE test.

Students taking the NCE and/or Comps Examination.

I just got off the phone with NBCC and asked if there are test questions that relate to the new DSM on either of these exams. The answer is basically no. There may be one or two questions but the questions would be so basic that they should be pretty obvious and they would not appear until April testing. This makes sense since the NCE and the Comps test the 8 basic CACREP Core areas (Helping Relationships, Group Work, Ethics, Assessment, Research, Human Growth, Multicultural, and Career). Also, the NCE and Comps are taken by students in Career Counseling, School Counseling, Addictions Counseling, and other CACREP counseling Programs. These students would not study DSM like those in Clinical Mental Health. So, no DSM on NCE or Comps. Do realize that by the time you are taking the Clinical Mental Health Exam for LCPC status, that knowledge of DSM will need to be significant.
